Book Review: ‘Set in Stone’ by Rachel Robinson

Released: APRIL 8, 2015

A standalone companion novel to the International Bestseller, CRAZY GOOD.

There is something all too vague about second chances. What happens when your utterly perfect, first chance never really ends? What if it’s stolen?

Bull-nosed attorney Morganna Sterns knows what she wants. Self assured, powerful, and independent, she finds herself struggling to find balance between honoring what has been stolen, and deciding if her second chance is going to end just as tragically.

Steven Warner is a Navy SEAL with nothing to lose. His overt humor and charm paired with his lethal skill set make him a perfect catch–for the right type of woman. His world is littered with relationships, but only one stands the test of time. Competing with a ghost is hard. Especially when that ghost is a teammate: his brother at arms.

It’s not, “it is what it is.” It’s what you make it. What you, and only you decide it should be. Navy SEALs never make the same mistake twice.

Will Morganna?

3.5 stars.

I liked this one, didn’t love it. I think it was because there were too many chapters going back into the past with Morganna and Stone. I liked them together in ‘Crazy Good’ but now that it wasn’t about them together anymore, I didn’t care to read about them. Especially the sex scenes. I’m generally not a fan of flashback scenes. I can only think of a few books off the top of my head that they actually worked for. This one didn’t need it. We got enough of their relationship together in the first companion novel to know what they were like together.

I wanted more of Steve and Morganna together as a couple. When they were together, it was really good. Morganna was really indecisive at times, which was a bit annoying, but under the circumstances I understood. I really liked Steve. He was a goofball at times but serious when he needed to be. I’ll definitely be reading more in this series when the next book comes out because I really like the setting with all of the friends and the Navy background too.
