BLURB:

I’m the selfish one. I suppose that’s the nicest thing people say about me. I’ve heard the other things, too. “Paige Owens is a pretty girl with nothing else to offer. She’s just a good time at a party. She’s stupid, heartless, cold and useless. All she cares about is getting a guy to look at her. Why would anyone want to be her friend?”

Some of those things are true. Others were true. They’re all hurtful.

None of it matters.

I’m ready to make the hard choices. I’m ready to face the consequences. I’m ready to be the girl I was before, and I’m done being the one who lost her way.

I’m ready to become the girl Houston Orr sees when he looks at me.

Houston isn’t a star athlete. He doesn’t play in a band. He’s never going to be president, and his life is so far away from simple and easy it isn’t even funny. He wasn’t part of my plan. But I’m starting to think plans are overrated, and maybe our stories are what we make them. And mine depends entirely on me, and the choices I make…starting now.

Houston is my fairytale. He’s perfectly imperfect. He’s poetry and life. He’s truth and heartbreak, all rolled up in a tall body with dark hair, broad shoulders and green eyes that lull me into submission. He’s nothing I ever thought I wanted, but the very thing I need. He’s the only guy I’ve ever really loved, and he thinks I’m a princess. I fell into him, and now I’m holding on.

But sometimes life takes away our ability to choose. Sometimes…things aren’t in your control. Sometimes, it hurts to be selfless. My only hope is that when it comes time to choose, I get it right.

Welcome to my once upon a time and wish for happily ever after.

****MY 5 STAR REVIEW****

arc received via wordsmith publicity in return for an honest review.

I love love love this series. It’s one of my favorite NA/college romance series. This one was no different and brought the feels. If you’ve read the other books, you know who Paige is. She was definitely not a favorite of mine. She was always bringing others down and too caught up in herself. She had her moments but they were few and far between.

In this book, Paige has a lot of growing up to do. Something happens where she has to make a decision whether or not she should share a picture she took of someone doing something not so great for their image. What follows is really the journey of Paige and her having to deal with all the rotten decisions she’s made in the past.

Enter Houston. You may remember him as the “sandwich guy” who made no apologies for the fact that he couldn’t stand Paige’s boyfriend or the way that he treat her. Now, I fell in love with Houston from the first page in this book. He’s such a good guy and boy does he have one huge secret I didn’t see coming. I LOVED it though and those scenes melted my heart completely.

Paige and Houston have some really cute banter. Paige is such a bitch and I actually do like to read about the bitches every now and then if it’s done right. She just says what comes to her mind without thinking. It amused Houston to no end and made for some great dialogue. I’m not gonna lie though, she really tried my patience a lot in this book. It was part of her journey in finding who she was, but man I wanted to smack some sense into her sometimes.

I think if you like this series, you’ll really enjoy this one. Houston is the star in my mind. His scenes with everyone were pretty much the best. Especially his best friend. Those were hilarious.

*Quotes* (keep in mind this was an ARC, so these quotes are subject to change in the final publication)

“Damn, you mean that asshole can tell you to do something, and you just obey, but me -an actual nice guy- I can’t buy you lunch without getting your foot up my ass?”

~She’s like the perfect blonde bombshell, but damn can she be mean~

~This strong goddess who doesn’t need anyone to save her, but damn does she need someone to believe in her~
